Overall, this year's QB class is a complex one. The top 3 QB prospects could be franchise altering guys, as they have all the talent and ability to instantly find success. Other than the top 3, there is about 6ish guys who for sure could work in the league, and have some sort of it factor to them. I think last years QB class was for sure elite, as there is projected to be 4 starting QBs from it for next years season, I could definitely see this class stacking up to last years. As the positional value in this draft class, I think if you can't nab one of the top 3, then it's to personal preference, but I could see 6 QBs end up drafted in the first round come April. If you think there are too little QBs on this list, don't worry, more will be coming. Also, if it feels like there is little pros and cons, they were just the things that standout, for example, Obviously Caleb Williams does most things well, but I am not going to put everything he does well, just the things that stand out to me.
2023 STATS:
63 CMP% 2,689 YDS 24 TD 8 INT
PROS:
Strong arm
Good placement
CONS:
Doesn't progress through reads super well
Doesn't trust receivers
DAY 3 GRADE
I could see Sam Hartman being a good journeyman back-up QB in the NFL. I don't really see a world where Hartman really becomes that guy for an NFL team, but I think teams will be attracted to his base-line skills and fundementals and could really place value on him being their backup QB.
2023 STATS:
66 CMP% 3,377 YDS 25 TD 11 INT
PROS:
Excellent mobility
Great accuracy
Solid arm
CONS:
Decision making skills
Small in size
Poor under pressure
DAY 3 GRADE
Taulia is a very interesting prospect in the sesne that his brother is also in an interesting spot in the league. Some say his brother is really good, some say his brother isn't very good. As for Taulia, I think the tape does surely tell that he is his brother. They do simmilar things well, and make simmilar mistakes. I think he is less appealing because he is smaller, and didn't play in as big of games as Tua. I think he could be something, but I'd say his ceiling is his brother.
2023 STATS:
69 CMP% 3,186 YDS 19 TD 8 INT
PROS:
Elite playmaking ability
Has all the physical tools
CONS:
Best ball was 3 years ago
Poor decision making
DAY 3 GRADE
Spencer Rattler is as divisive as they come. I think there are parts of his game where I see glimpses of a potential NFL star, but for the most part, it's quite a bit of bad decisions being made. I think if Rattler found the right coach, the right system, it COULD work. I do think he's a hard worker, and I think he will give whatever team chooses him his best ball, but I'm not sure what that will look like.
2023 STATS:
65 CMP% 2,406 YDS 22 TD 5 INT
PROS:
Football IQ
Improv Skills
Good upper body mechanics
CONS:
Poor accuracy
Poor arm strength
Lack of competition
DAY 2 GRADE
Pratt is one of the more 'middle-of-the-pack' QB's in this class. For a guy like him, nothing's off the table for what his future may look like going forward. He could be drafted in the 2nd round, he could go undrafted, It's very unclear for him. I think he has the mental tools for a. NFL job, but I am less sure he has the physical tools.
2023 STATS:
63 CMP% 2,756 YDS 20 TD 2 INT
PROS:
Good athlete
Runs well
Quick Release
Footwork
Mentally Sharp
CONS:
Not great arm strength
lower-half mechanics need work
lacks anticipation in throws
Coming off big injury
DAY 2 GRADE
I think Jordan Travis's tape is really fun to watch, but I also think that there are some clear concerns. I really like him as a ball player, he does a lot of things well that will make NFL teams want him, such as his football IQ, and his quick release. However, I think the arm strength is concerning, and that he's coming off a relatively big injury. I could see him sitting a year behind a QB, and then being the guy, sort of like a Sam Howell situation from 2 seasons ago, but I think that is his best opportunity, realistically.
2023 STATS:
64 CMP% 2,813 YDS 20 TD 5 INT
PROS:
Best arm in league
Football IQ
Great size
Throws well on run
Quick release
CONS:
Accuracy as whole
24 years old
Still needs development of NFL offense
PRO COMPARISON:
Anthony Richardson
DAY 2 GRADE
Now in my opinion, this is where the QB's get exciting and are guys you should be prepared to see potentially on Sundays. I think Milton has all the physical tools and more, as he is a specimen with his cannon attatched for an arm, and the ridiculous size. However, I think many teams will get turned off by his age, and his accuracy. I think accuracy is something that could be coached out, but he is definitely a project QB that many teams should seriously consider, because his upside is maybe top of this class.
2023 STATS:
72 CMP% 2,991 YDS 22 TD 4 INT
PROS:
Has underutilized talent
Stats don't lie, efficient
Can run very well
CONS:
Haven't seen much in crutch situations
no tape of a pass-heavy offense
PRO COMPARISON:
Tyrod Taylor
DAY 2 GRADE
J.J. McCarthy was an interesting watch. I think any team that chooses him, is betting on the McCarthy we haven't seen. I can't call him bad at really much, I just haven't seen it, no one has. If he shows he can deal in pass-heavy offense, then yes, he'll be the real deal, but I imagine a team that is very 'run-first' will gamble on him, as he would succeed in an offense like that.
2023 STATS:
77 CMP% 4,508 YDS 45 TD 3 INT
PROS:
Good size
Cannon of an arm
Footwork
CONS:
On field IQ
Sloppy mechanics
struggles with progression
PRO COMPARISON:
C.J. Stroud (prospect)
DAY 1 GRADE
Bo Nix I think is going to be an NFL QB. He has a lot of great talent, good size, and there is just a feel that he is going to be solid in the league. I have him as a day 1 grade because I believe he will be selected in the 1st round. I have him above McCarthy because I've seen him in a pass heavy offense, and it worked. He is a little bit older of a prospect as well, but I think he has the tools so age doesn't really bother me in this case. I could see a world where he doesn't work out, but I think Nix slots in real nicely at number 5.
2023 STATS:
65 CMP% 4,903 YDS 36 TD 11 INT
PROS:
Huge arm
Makes every throw
Pocket presence
Leadership
Physically built well
Smart pre-snap
Arm mechanics
CONS:
Injuries !!!
24 years old
Slow release
PRO COMPARISON:
Kirk Cousins
DAY 1 GRADE
Man, Penix would be a top 10 pick if he didn't have the injury history and was a little younger for sure. He has all the chops of a early first round pick, he is crazy talented. I trust him just as much as the 3 guys I have in front of him to put a ball where it needs to be on a consistent basis. I try my best to not factor the injury risk, because that's not really fair to him, but I think even without it 4 still feels really good for him. He will be a starting QB in the NFL next year.
2023 STATS:
72 CMP% 3,812 YDS 40 TD 4 INT
PROS:
Ultimate dual-threat QB
Insanse 2023 numbers
Game management
Decision making
Big play machine
CONS:
Will his play translate to the NFL
Weight concerns
PRO COMPARISON:
Randall Cunningham
DAY 1 GRADE
Daniels played himself likely into a top 3-4 pick in this upcoming NFL draft this past season, and it is well deserved. I've seen people compare him to the likes of Lamar Jackson, and I don't hate that comparison, but I think Daniels is also his own player. He plays a certain type of football that you could question how well it will translate, but this guy will be a stud, no doubt about it. I think the gap between Daniels and number 2 is just as close as the gap between 1 & 2. I think he would work in most sytems in the league, but you could definitely taper your offense to be built around him, like the Ravens have with Lamar.
2023 STATS:
63 CMP% 3,608 YDS 24 TD 9 INT
PROS:
Strong arm
Ideal size & mobility
Makes all throws
Touch & bullet passes
CONS:
Tries to play hero ball too much
Post-snap reads
PRO COMPARISON:
Justin Herbert
DAY 1 GRADE
Maybe the safest and the most NFL ready QB in the class. Has everything that you could want out of a young QB, but that doesn't mean he's also perfect. I think there are some kinks to his game, but honestly translating to the pros will naturally clean those up. A very good ball player with ideal size, I don't really see a world where he doesn't go number 2 in the draft. Now as to why it's not 1a and 1b, I think the number 1 guy just has way more upside, not that Maye doesn't, because I think that Maye would probably go number 1 in most years. That's just a testiment to how good the number 1 guy is.
2023 STATS:
68 CMP% 3,633 YDS 30 TD 5 INT
PROS:
Insane playmaker
Makes every throw
Good under pressure
Very mobile
Elite accuracy (even on run)
CONS:
Ball out faster
Height
Fumbling issues
PRO COMPARISON:
Patrick Mahomes II
DAY 1 GRADE
Do I even need to explain why? He is one of the best QB prospects we've had in awhile. I think Caleb will enter the league and play pretty good ball for whatever team drafts him. The USC offensive line was atrocious and he still put up nutty numbers, so once he gets NFL guys arounf hiim, he is going to be special.
