POWER RANKINGS: WEEK 8

CONTENDER

The best offense without a doubt, and still a very stout defense without Hutchinson.

CONTENDER

They are a field goal away from still being undefeated. I can't beat them up too much about that loss at all, because that would be discrediting their absolute dominance in every game before that.

CONTENDER

Quite frankly, I am tired of hearing "They find a way to win games." No, just say they have at least a top 2 defense and that is why they are 6-0. The offense has been relatively pretty lackluster all things considered, and their defense is still not good against the pass. I also don't like it when people say: "imagine how good they'll be when they figure it out on offense." I understand that this team is good in the playoffs, but so far for the 2024 season, I have no reason to believe that there is much potential for a 'better' offense than I do any other team. What's been on the field is what we take as the best they can do in that given game, just like everyone else.

CONTENDER

My heart feels like this is the best team in the league, but I will hold off a little longer on that. They might have the top 2 MVP candidates in the same backfield. Enough said.

CONTENDERS

Sometimes this team worries me, but most of the time, I think it is one of the more well-rounded teams in the entire league. Need I remind you, Josh Allen is not turning the ball over this year, they are running the ball incredibly well, and they have several options in the passing game. Combo that with a well-coached defense, they are a real threat.

CONTENDER

I mean this defense is no joke at all. They are giving opposing teams a lot of trouble, in a lot of different ways. They can take it from you 5 times in a game, or hold your phenom QB to under 100 yards. The offense runs the ball very well, and are efficient passing the football. The Packers are going to be a problem if you don't already consider them one.

CONTENDER

Played a pretty good game against another pretty good team and lost on a walk-off field goal. Honestly, my only concern is Stroud a little bit, just doesn't really feel like much of the same guy as last year, a little less electric. Nothing to be concerned about however.

CONTENDER

Losing Godwin, and that game, was a huge blow to the Bucs this season. However, I am not going to doubt this team, they have solid depth at WR, and all around are still a great team.

CONTENDER

This team dropped 40 without Jayden Daniels. They are most certainly contenders.

A formal apology to Russell Wilson would be highly appreciated. The offense is way more explosive with him in there, as they scored 37 points against the #2 yards defense, in his first start since Christmas Eve last year. If this team can replicate that, the floor for the offense sky rockets, and so does their playoff aspirations. Not to mention with Kupp being on the market, that could be a huge move for Pittsburgh.

CONTENDER

They are going to make the playoffs, but this team needs to start being a little more consistent and find more of an identity on offense and defense.

It is a good defense, and a offense that is simply getting better and better every week. At this point, they are one of the better well-rounded team's in the league.

CONTENDER

The roster is just far too good for this team to miss the playoffs. How well they play when they get there is yet to be determined, but I'm confident they will make the dance.

PRETENDER

Too. Many. Injuries. It's unfortunate, because we all know how good a healthy niners team is. Just they have been bit by the injury bug too hard this season, and integral pieces as well.

CONTENDER*

I don't think they are in the same category as other contenders, but they certainly are playing solid football. They are just a little too hard to read right now.

CONTENDER

Although the offense has staggered a little bit the past 2 weeks, they have at least won, and kept themselves in a position to at least have a shot at a playoff spot. The defense has been better, even though it was two "bad teams," it still counts. This team can and will most likely keep winning games, and if they make the playoffs, we know the noise they can make.

PRETENDER

The defense and running game simply isn't there right now. If it is, they can contend, but when you can't win a shootout because of your defense, and your offense has to score a lot because you can't run the ball, you're not going to win a lot of games.

This team is just a few pieces away on offense away from being a contender.

Look I'll be the first to say I was wrong about them so far this season. That being said, I still don't think this offense can command a good game offensively against a good opponent. Time will tell, especially when they play the Chiefs, but at the end of the day, they do still have a rookie under center, and he is going to be prone to making rookie mistakes.

Just simply not consistent enough to win enough games to make the playoffs. You get a different team every week out there, yet every week there is still something left out there on the field that they could be better at.

The winning record doesn't mean anything if I'm not sold on this team having a functional offense or defense. I realise they have been without Jonathan Taylor, but they have ran the ball okay without him. This team makes far too any mistakes on a week-to-week basis to be taken seriously as a threat in the AFC.

This is shocking even to me, but after it has been reported that they are shopping Cooper Kupp, it only makes sense that they are now pretenders. Can't be selling meanwhile having a 2-4 record, and also still trying to make the playoffs.

Pre-season, this wasn't that wild of a take. But after weeks 2 and 3? You would assume it would be. I think there are some nice pieces for the future, but far too many injuries at this point to get back into contention.

There needed to be a dialogue about what Rodgers has done to this franchise LAST WEEK. Was he a talented QB? Sure, but he is not Tom Brady, where he has this power to bring all his friends and the people he wants to the team. It has tanked what was a bright team and had hope, and now they are back to square 1. My question is: Let's assume that this team fizzles out and misses the playoffs again. Is Rodgers and Co. brought back again?

There is a decent team in here somewhere, but I don't think they can find it this season.

Even with Tua coming back, this team has WAY too many issues that don't involve the QB.

The offense has certainly started to click, but it's too little too late. Hard to picture this team overcoming the Texans.

I mean, they are tanking. can't really contend if you aren't planning on it front office-wise.

Going into the season, everyone knew this team wouldn't sniff the playoffs. That being said, we didn't know how good Drake Maye would look, even with an awful supporting cast.

Going into the season, I had higher hopes for this team. not neccisarily for Levis, but more so because I thought the roster was solid enough to win 8 games. That appears to not be the case.

On the bright side, there is significant trade intrest for Young, hoping he can get a fresh start.
