Power Rankings have returned, and i'm shaking up the way I am writing them, to hopefully help with overall consistency of posting every week. As for the rankings themselves, I would take this week 1 rankings with a grain of salt, because we don't know anything about any team truly until they are out on the field. Going to keep it brief for each team, since i've already written about every team this offseason twice. Without further ado, let's get into it.
They are the defending champs, and with no notable departures, there is no reason in my mind why they haven't earned the top spot. I would genuinely be shocked if this team fell below the top 4 at all this season.
The Ravens are the second best roster in the league, and have one of the best QB's in the league. They leap-frog some other teams that had deep playoff runs off the fact they got way better this offseason.
Until proven otherwise, the Lions still feel like the greatest threat to the Eagles at the moment in the NFC. They lost a couple of coordinators, but you could also argue they upgraded in a lot of areas as well.
The Bills leap frog the Chiefs for the sole factor of their roster is in a better position week 1 than KC. These teams are pretty equal, I just give the edge to the Bills here.
Being without Rashee Rice for 6 weeks could hurt them early on, as good defenses aren't going to have too many weapons to take away. However, can never count them out.
The addition of Micah Parsons makes this team better. Not simply because he is good, but also because the atmosphere has changed for them: They are going for the Lombardi this season.
I think when it comes to the Commanders, I am simply waiting to see if they can repeat in year 2 of Daniels. Truly a wait and see team.
This may seem a little high, but they are certainly a safe team to have this high. really high floor as a team, especially with a top 3 defense.
Chargers are in the same exact boat for me, I think they are a really safe bet to be solid.
Somehow, someway, the Bengals came out of the offseason retaining all their stars in contract negotiations. Not a team you can count out, especially with an offense like they have.
Sure, they may basically have a rookie QB, but this team won 14 games last season. I don't think all of that was on Sam Darnold's shoulders. This is still a good team.
The Texans make me really nervous, and I can't explain why. I was super high on them last year, and they let me down. Now this year, I feel relatively low on them. This spot feels right for them, still much to prove, but earned top 12.
The Rams are the most 'solid' team in the league. I don't think they are in the super bowl tier at the moment, but I think any lower than this would be a disservice to their consistency over the years.
Very high powered offense, will be interested to see how some of their injuries hinder them early in the year.
I am high on the Seahawks, but they are in a spot where they gotta earn it. This truly feels like the Sam Darnold prove it year, first time since Carolina that he hasn't had an offensive minded/QB mentor coach.
Them losing Micah doesn't necessarily worry me too much. This team is around average to me, with a solid chance to be above average.
The Cardinals can run the ball well, and feel well-rounded. We will see if they can finally put together a season.
As high as I'm willing to go on the Colts until I see Daniel Jones under center. outside of QB, a decent roster.
I am not very excited for the Rodgers era in Pittsburgh, I think it's only going to be more mediocre football.
The Niners had a down year last year. I think they could bounce back, but I also thinkt they could live here in the 20s for power rankings for awhile. Regardless, they are going to have to earn it back.
Bears I feel the same way. This team has a very high ceiling, but it has to be earned to move up in power rankings.
I think Penix is going to make this a very fun team to watch, but as for how many games they will win, I have no clue. My only guess would be not a ton.
The Panthers could mess around and be a really good team this season, but it's going to have to start in Jacksonville.
I get that everyone is excited about Vrabel, but this roster still feels like it has some holes lingering.
There is a lot of new in Las Vegas, so I would rather be cautious about this team, and put them lower than placing them higher than they should be.
Cam Ward is going to have one of the roughest 'welcome to the league' games against Denver. Beyond that, there is some room for this team to grow this season.
I am being cautiously optimistic about the Giants, because I feel like in a week I won't be able to be.
New Coach and QB is a lot of change, and much like the Raiders, I would rather be safe than sorry.
I do not think this roster is very good. I think Travis Hunter is going to be very exciting, but that's about it.
Same here. I think there is room for the offense to be elite again, but even then there are some bigger issues on the team.
Not an ideal QB situation. Will be curious how long Flacco's leash is before they try out some of the new guys.
Announcing your starting QB a month before the season starts, and there is not an ounce of excitement around it, is concerning.
