Beat DAL 24-20
Don't get me wrong, they looked good against the Cowboys, considering they were missing Jalen Carter the entire game, but there were a couple things that concerned me. For one, the passing game still wasn't very efficient. They could be getting more out of having AJ Brown and Devonta Smith, outside 3 receptions. The second thing was the secondary looked bad quite a bit throughout the game. Not enough to dock them off the top spot, but enough to make note of.
Beat BAL 41-40
The Bills had no right winning the game against the Ravens. The Ravens had a hefty lead while running the ball effectively, yet Josh Allen led the improbable comeback. This to me sealed him as the number 1 QB in the NFL right now.
Lost 41-40 to BUF
'The Ravens played a perfect game' is what everyone is saying, and while I think they did offensively, a supposed top 3 defensive unit in the league shouldn't be allowing 500 yards and 41 points. Sure, it's Josh Allen and the Bills, but I would hope they look better moving forward.
Beat DET 27-13
The Packers made the Lions look like complete fools. I don't know if I've ever seen this Lions offense look that bad in awhile, and I think a big part to do with that was this defense. Offense looked like a well oiled machine as well.
Lost 27-21 to LAC
The Chiefs kind of looked like the team that lost the Super Bowl against the Chargers. Nothing on offense could really get moving into a mojo, and it resulted in mediocre defense and Mahomes carrying them down the field. Yes the injuries to the WR room hurt, but I don't know how much of a real difference that would make.
Beat KC 27-21
I'm going to wait to leap frog the Chargers over the Chiefs just for a moment, because I need to see the Chargers put up a performance like that one more time before I can let that happen.
Lost 27-13 to GB
...
That is not really what we come to expect from the Detroit Lions. Maybe their worst loss in awhile. We will have to see if losing the coaches is the reason for this, or if Green Bay really is that good.
Beat NYG 21-6
The Defense looked great, especially the run defense, but as for the offense... It could have looked better. Sure it was a divisional game against a tough front 7, but they let the Giants stay in the game until the 4th quarter. They are only dropping here because of the rise of the Chargers.
Beat TEN 20-12
Once again, they are only dropping due to the rise of the Chargers. As for the Broncos, it was a solid win, not a whole lot to take away. Bo Nix looked very rusty, but I assume his play will get better.
Beat HOU 14-9
Honestly, a super weird game from both teams. I think the main takeaway here is that both defenses are really really good, and that the Rams just happened to be a little better. I didn't realize how strong this defense could be this year.
Beat CHI 27-24
All game, I felt like this was the same defense from last year, which is a good thing. But the first 3 quarters on offense were growing pains for sure in this offense. Some of it can be credited to the Bears defense, but it was pretty rough. Then in the 4th Quarter, McCarthy was a different guy, and this team looked genuinely unstoppable. It was interesting to see the potential highs and lows for the Vikings all in one game.
Beat CLE 17-16
This is not a win that inspires many fantasy owners out there. The offense did not look very good, as they were lacking the explosiveness that we've come to expect from them. However, you can give them some points for playing pretty solid defense despite the time of possesion the Browns had.
Beat ATL 23-20
I think we can credit the first half to some rusty-ness, because they looked really good in the second half. NFC South games are always close for no reason at all, and I think this is still a really good all around unit.
Lost 14-9 to LAR
The Texans defense got off the team bus... don't know if the offense did too. For a playoff team, that is not a performance that inspires you too much, especially considering the rest of the South looked decent Sunday. They are going to have to earn the South at this rate.
Lost 24-20 to PHI
For opening the season to the defending champs, the Cowboys honestly looked good. They were genuinely a couple dropped passes away from winning the game. Their defense looked sharp, and their offense looked good too. This is the type of loss that you can feel good about afterwards.
Beat MIA 33-8
Wow... just wow. You can attribute some of this game to the Dolphins being bad, but you can't deny that Colts offense could not be stopped. Literally, they were never stopped once the entire game. The defense looked very capable too. I will have to see it against slightly better competition though.
Beat NYJ 34-32
You can certainly be excited about how the offense played, but you can't say the same for the defense. The Jets did exactly what they wanted to on offense to the Steelers, which isn't a good sign if you have Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson in your division. I think it's ok to be cautiously optimistic about the offense with Aaron Rodgers.
Beat SEA 17-13
Pretty solid performance for being on the road missing some key players. If this team can have that Robert Saleh defense back that they had years ago, then they really could be more dangerous than meets the eye.
Beat NO 20-13
Certainly not a victory to be proud of in my opinion. They looked better than the Saints, but that is a pretty low bar. This team can play better, and will have to if they want to win more games.
Lost 17-13 to SF
The Defense looked great, and got many turnovers for the offense, and the offense did literally nothing. Held to under 200 yards of offense is not a great start to the Darnold era.
Lost 27-24 to MIN
The defense and atmosphere of Chicago was alive for 3 quarters of this game, but the offense never quite brought enough to finish the win. I wouldn't be too worried about the Bears, the offense will look better as time goes on.
Lost 23-20 to TB
You can make the case that they should have went to OT and had a chance to win, but missed field goals are also apart of the sport. I thought they looked pretty solid on offense, and good at times on defense. Not enough to move them up or down.
Beat NE 20-13
The Raiders started hot and finished hot against the Pats. The middle of the game was a little rough. I think the defense looked very sharp.
Lost 34-32 to PIT
This is the kind of loss that you feel really good about. Justin Fields looked great, the run game looked great, and the pass rush looked great. Sure they gave up a ton of yards and points on defense, but this team has an identity, and it is clear in week 1.
Lost 20-12 to DEN
Cam Ward looked good. I am not going to overreact to much else, because this was a nightmare scenario for a rookie's first start. The defense played well, and I think the issues on offense are fixable.
Beat CAR 26-10
The Jags looked very competent, especially in the run game, and creating pressure on defense. I think there are some really interesting qualites to this team that will make them fun to watch.
Lost 20-13 to LV
This felt like a very winnable game for the Pats, that they let slip away. the Offensive woes continue.
Lost 26-10 to JAX
I still believe in this team, I just think there is a lot of rust, and the weather delay didn't help either. Unfortunate that that will be apart of the NFL now. All the problems feel very fixable for this team, so I'm not sounding the alarm just yet.
Lost 21-6 to WSH
Well, the defense looked pretty solid, outside of stopping the run. Offensively, horrid play-calling was the fault here, not any single player. Trying to establish the run late in the 3rd quarter when it's clear you need to air it out, is a play-calling issue.
Lost 17-16 to CIN
They had long, methodical drives, that just hardly ever amounted to points. I think there is something to build off here with the defensive performance and the young guys on offense, we will see if it does however.
Lost 33-8 to IND
Another loss like that, the Dolphins could have to consider tearing it all down and starting over. Not good on offense or defense at all.
Lost 20-13 to ARI
New Orleans stays in last because They are still confidently the most lost franchise at the moment. Their defense did play good at times I will admit though.
